Ammodo and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), attach significant importance to unfettered fundamental scientific research. To give extra stimulus to this type of research at the present time, Ammodo and the KNAW decided to join forces and in 2015 the Ammodo KNAW Award was established. The Ammodo KNAW Award is awarded every two years to eight laureates who each receive a cash prize of 300,000 euros. They can spend this amount at their discretion on a fundamental scientific research project.

Ammodo promotes the arts and sciences. Together with outstanding artists and scientists, and their affiliated institutions Ammodo initiates groundbreaking projects in the fields of science and art. By providing financial support and close cooperation to develop an appropriate format for each project, space is created for in-depth development. Ammodo is renewing the foundations of our society.
